Filename : Squish2.map Author : Michael Hoffman Email Address : hoff0103@gold.tc.umn.edu Misc. Author Info : Second attempt at my third real attempt at a map Author of Fireplc.map, Doomtoo.map, Squish!.map, Wad2map.map and some other modified maps. Description : Medium sized dukematch & single player map based on DWANGO5.wad map 1 for doom2. Additional Credits to : There's a secret room that has a slight resemblance to one found in e1l1, for which 3drealms was slightly responsible. And of course, I was not the one who made dwango5.wad map 1. Credit for that goes to? It says compiled by Aikman, but I don't know if he actually made dwango5.wad map1. ================================================================ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : e1l8 (user level) Single Player : There are a few monsters... DukeMatch Level : Dukematch & Coop Difficulty Settings : Implemented (DNSKILL3 for harder, DNSKILL4 for "I'm Toast") * Construction * Base : DWANGO5.wad Map 1 Editors used : BUILD, NWT, WAD2MAP Known Bugs : You can throw pipebombs through the secret passage into the room where player 1 starts.. Appearently you also get squished at the entrance to the secret passage with some regularity. Nothing Terrible. Build Time : A while... * Where to get this MAP file * WWW sites: www.mm.com/user/tcdmntia/wwd FTP sites: BBS numbers: Other: Comments: This is squish!.map with lots of squishing places.. Dwango 5 map 1 gone totally squishy. Come play and squish your friends. Note that there are a few semi-booby traps, but don't get excited, because afterall, YOU pushed the button. Lots of ceilings come down and a few floors go up. Watch the demo to get an idea of how things are done. (To see the demo, load up the map and quit to title). Two player actually seems to work. I was wrong! I've implemented difficulty settings so that you don't get creamed by default. Use DNSKILL3-4 to change the skill setting. I've fixed the sound, so you don't need any particular sound file (In squish!.map I had a quake.voc with a particular length to it)... Well you don't need anything like anymore. Added since squish!: 4 Sets of teleporters, 2 sets hidden. Approx. 4 Hallways that squish automatically and with switches. 1 hallway that only squishes with switches. 2 more rooms that squish with switches. Feces added! (wow, cool!) Skill level implemented (skill level 1 is do-able now). 2 Semi-traps that have floors that rise up and squish you (only activated by switch). Jetpack more accessible, if you know where the second one is. Ledge wide enough to walk on easily. Sound implemented so it doesn't need any special sound files (and it's still the right length). Lots of switches. Start points improved, Big secret opened up to multiplayer. You can get the most out of this map when you go through the whole thing and figure out what all the switches do and where all the teleporters go. Easiest if you're the one who built the map. :) If you would like something simpler than this, try Squish!.map, also availible at the www site shown below. Squish!.zip also contains Nsquish.map which is just a plain conversion of Dwango5 map1 with no secrets of any kind added. ============================================================= Beware the Killer Green Pig Cop Squad of Death! Beware the Pit of Death! Watch the slime things eat the Killer Green Pig Cop Squad of Death! dnkroz first, or else you'll be pumped full of lead. Oh and please don't blow up the obelisk! Unfortunately, Doom maps don't always convert well to Duke. The scale had to be changed in this map, because Duke can jump so much higher than the Doom Guy. It's not quite the same map anymore. There are about 8 secret rooms (some of these rooms are connected to each other and are not so secret in that sense) and one secret passage. You'll probably get squished somewhere if you press any buttons, hence the name. And, oh, by the way, be nice and reset the Squishamatic when you get squished by it. How did I convert this wad map? See convert.txt for a complete explanation of how to do it. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR STARTING POINTS DON'T HAVE PEOPLE FACING WALLS!! ARRG! I HATE THAT! Just use the < and > in either 3d or 2d mode to turn the "a player" sprites so that they face in a reasonable direction. Goodbye and goodluck!
