ok...
you can use any texture for the
sky
i use any te3xture that id used
to make lights
as then you can pic the coulor
you want the sky to shine without
using any light entities....thus
less entities in the map , more even lighting, and less chance for overflow...
ok the sky will radiate the same
light as the texture you used to
make the brushes with...
like the texture i used radiates
a realy dull light yellow brown light
that will be the over all light
in the outside areas...
you can eaven use water or slime
brushes...
just make shure you edit the texture
properties to reflect what i have in pic 1...
the entire brush must be set to
"sky"
all faces of the brush or you will
get a "mixed seface properties error"
now once you have made your sky
brushes and set the properties right you need to pick the sky in the map
properties
this is called "world spawn"
just chose the file you want and
typ its name in as shown in
pic #3
to incorperate a cool new sky....
download one{off the chaos maps
page!!!!!!!}
and extract it to quake2/baseq2/env
do not put it in its own folder
inside of the env folder it will not work that way...
then to look at them
start up quake and typ "sky *****"
in the console where ***** is the
name of the sky you want to see
