IP Address: Optional - This setting should only be required for servers that have more than
one IP address. It is used to determine which address Quake 3 Arena should use for the game. For instance,
if you have a Server (like mine) that has two NIC cards - one connected to the Internet, the other to your
workgroup, you can enter the IP address for your workgroup to prevent Internet players from joining (or Vice Versa).
Port Number: Optional - This will set which port you want to the server to use. If no port is specified,
the default port (27960) will be used. If you run more than one server on the same IP address, you still
don't need to use this setting - Quake 3 Arena will automatically use the next available port (27961).
Client Max Rate:
This setting determines the maximum throughput provided to each client. This can be used to control the
advantage given to high-speed clients by restricting their throughput to that of an analog modem user. A
setting of 8000 will favor modem users, and a setting of 10000 will favor high-speed (Cable/DSL/T1) users.
Ping Limits:
These settings can also be used to restrict access to those with certain types of connections. For instance,
to allow only modem users to connect, set the minimum ping to about 100 or so. To allow only high-speed
clients (Cable/DSL/T1) set the maximum ping to about 100. Quake 3 Arena will only restrict clients from
connecting at these rates. These settings are ignored if set to 0 or left blank.
Require Password:
When checked, the password and private clients boxes will become active. The password will
be required by all players before connecting to your server by using the \password (password) command
at the console to connect to the server. I hope that Id changes this to a password prompt in
a future point release.
Console (Rcon) Password:
Setting this password will make it possible for clients to send commands to the server console. This can
be done by using \rcon (password) (command) at the console. To avoid the need to specify the
password with each command, clients can use enter \rconpassword (password) at the console once, and
then send subsequent commands to the server using \rcon (command).
Memory Allocated:
This sets the com_hunkmegs value used by Quake 3 Arena to set the amount of memory consumed by the server.
16 MB is suggested for FFA and Tourney games, 32 for Team Deathmatch and CTF games.
Notice: This value is stored in the q3config.cfg when the server is shut down. If later you want to
play a game of Quake 3 Arena on the server, you should set the command line variable +set com_hunkmegs 56 (or higher) to
allocate enough memory for a client game.
Specify CD ROM Drive:
When checked, the server will look for the Quake 3 Arena CD in the specified drive. The drive letter
must include the colon (D: for example). This setting is optional, and should only be used if the drive
letter has changed since you installed Quake 3 Arena.
Parameters:
If you want to send any additional command-line parameters to the server at startup, you can enter them here.
This allows you to enter any parameters required for supporting mods, etc. For example: +set game gamemod
Include Config File:
If you have a particular config file that you would like to execute when the server loads, you can select it
here. Once you have selected a config file, you can click the [ Edit ] button to make changes to it. Servarena
will list all files with a .cfg extension in the baseq3 folder, except those which should not be selected (q3config.cfg and servarena.cfg).
Support for N-O-P:
Checking this box will send the command line parameter required to support N-O-P,
a popular Java-based stats utility.
