News Scanner is an utility designed to parse the newsgroups of a specified news server and download the file attachments and the E-mail addresses. Use this application for your leisure, download thousands of music files and wonderful high-quality pictures from newsgroups.

System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 95 or later
  • 32MB RAM
  • Internet connection (28.8 minimum)

Quick Operation Guide:

  • Start News Scanner
  • Select your news server (by clicking the corresponding icon or by pressing CTRL-S) and set the default output directory.
  • Click "Connect to News Server" button and see the messages in the status bar. If connection fails, try another news server.
  • Click the "Select newsgroups" to download newsgroups. To quickly locate newsgroups, type the name into the search box. Tip: If you want to locate newsgroups containing pictures, type picture. Select the ones you would like to process (hold CTRL or ALT to select multiple newsgroups) and click Add.
  • The main form should display the list of selected newsgroups. You may now modify the default output directory for each selected newsgroup.
  • Press "Download" to process each selected newsgroup.

  • For personal use, registration fee is only $10 per household (any number of computers).
  • For commercial use, registration fee is $20 for one computer and $30 for any number of computers in your organization)
