GLQuake Supported : No. * Construction * Base : Scratch Editor(s) : WorldCraft , Notepad. Known Bugs : There is this one weird thing, where suddenly and for no reason, one random monster of the ambush you are greeted by when you pick up the silver key disappears and ends up on the other side of the level. If this happens, you are stuck unfortunately, and you'll have to load a savegame before you picked up the key. I have no idea of what causes this. Build Time : Uhm, since last weekend, which would make it, uhm, two weeks... Texture Wad : Original Quake101.wad Compile machine : PII 350 MHz 64 Mb RAM Compile tools: : WQBSP, Tyrlite, Hvis. WQBSP : 99 seconds. Tyrlite (extra) : 1397 seconds. HVis (level 4) : 2364 seconds. Brushes : 1391. Entities : 557. ======================================================================= * Information * OK, the story behind this level: Some of you might have noticed that I have spent the last 9 months in the army. Nothing wrong with being in the army really, recruit school was pretty cool and the rest was alright I guess. Except for one thing: T H E E N D L E S S D A Y S O N G U A R D D U T Y W I T H N O T H I N G T O D O ! So I started bringing a CD with WorldCraft with me, and tried to map. Of course, inspiration was nowhere to be found. Then suddenly, the last week left of my service, I came up with something decent and interesting, which evolved into czg03. The level is nowhere near the technical splendor of czg07, since the machine I had to make this on was, uhm.. , shitty. The level is entirely dressed up like e1m3 (The Necropolis) and has some of the most difficult combat I have ever created. If you keep on dying, it's not because you suck as a player but because the monsters rule as monsters. And even though health may seem scarse, you should have a look around in the underwater areas where loads of the stuff is hidden away... Mind you, this is not the same czg03 that you'll find in the abandoned maps pack of mine. Play it and enjoy it, and when you're done, you MUST email me and tell me what you think. Please, you must. It is really dissappointing fo us mappers to see lots of people download our work, only to find that two or three people even give us feedback. It's even sadder that most of you don't even bother to read this .txt. Pearls for swine I say. (Don't take this personal as you're obviously reading this. I mean the swine who's not reading. ;-) ) Credits: Quite honestly, I have noone to thank for this! I made it all by myself! YES I DID DIDN'T I!! HAHAHAHHA!!!! I guess there are some betatester freaks though; Than, [Kona], Vigil, CardO, nanOspawn, uh, some more people, Apollo and Speedy? And perhaps Cybear too... ah hell, thank you for finding that screwy waterbrush before it was too late anyway. ======================================================================= * Installation * Unzip czg03.bsp to quake\id1\maps\. Create a maps directory off of id1 if neccessary. Run Quake, hit ~ (tilde, the key to the left above TAB,) and type in: map czg03 You can also use Dos Prompt with this command line: quake -winmem xx \ -heapsize xx000 +map czg03 NOTE: With the release of the Quake source code, a lot of new versions of GLQuake are pouring out. If possible, use one that disables that awful waterwarp "feature". If you're playing GLQuake, (which I not really recommend you to do,) use r_wateralpha 1 , r_shadows 0 and gl_flashblend 0. All of these are of course set in the console. ======================================================================= * Copyright / Permissions * Commercial distribution of this material, in whole or in part, requires prior agreement with the author.
