·· Play Information ·· Title : Hangover Devastation Date of release : 24 March 2006 Files : hdn.bsp, hdn.txt, sky_morose.zip Author : Ankh [Damian Kulot] Email address : damian.kulot@gmail.com Homepage : http://republika.pl/quake_1/index.html Description : Single Player Level for Quake Other maps by author : "Coma" - Quake SP Single Player : Yes. Cooperative : Yes. 4 starts. Deathmatch : No. Monster Count : easy - 53, normal - 78, hard - 97 Base : From scratch. Editor used : Hammer Other programs : aguirRe's TreeQBSP, RVIS and LIGHT, Wally, TexMex, Qdqstats Textures : BLOOD, KNAVE, DKT3, ID and some other Engines : map was tested with standard Winquake, Fitzquake, Joequake Build Time : 7 months Skybox : I have used the MOROSE skybox from Speedy for the screenshots. I think it fits the level very well. The skybox is included in the download but you have to place it in the right directory (\quake\Id1\gfx\env\ in most cases). You can download the original files from Speedy's site http://speedy.planetquake.gamespy.com/stuff.htm. ·· The Story ·· Two weeks have passed since you arrived into this strange land. And it showed that Shub-Niggurath's servants are not that bad as others said. The days were passing on feasts with excessive eating and drinking. The Knights were a bit dumb and the Ogres didn't have good manners but since the food was good you didn't care too much. You only had to be careful with their pets, Fiends for example always try to bite you in the leg if you don't watch your back, and Spawns tend to explode if scared. You suddenly wake up in the middle of the night in some windy and cold place. Your head is aching hard and you have a dry feeling in your mouth. You slowly remember that there was too much alcohol on this evening's banquet. You open your eyes and now you can see where you are. Your new companions have played you a bad joke! They put you in here and locked the door from the other side. Those bastards! You realize that there is no other way. You have to jump. Shieeeeet! Now you are going to kill all those funny twats.... Hangover Devastation! .. Known Bugs and Technical Issues .. 1. The map comes as a standalone bsp without custom progs.dat. You might get packet overflows and sound muting in 2 or 3 places on skill 2/3. If you want to avoid this please consider using a custom progs with corpse removal. I recommend the QdQstats v1.8 progs.dat, which is easy to use (corpse removal is set with impulse command). You can download it from here http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/QdQstats18.zip. 2. TOTAL_CHANNELS == MAX_CHANNELS warnings in standard Winquake and earlier versions of Fitzquake (below 0.80) 3. Sky will not display properly in earlier versions of Fitzquake (below 0.80) if the skybox files aren't present. You can get it back by just typing sky "" in the console. 4. Winquake users should set the r_maxedges and r_maxsurfs value to "10000" to avoid "grayflash" ·· Instructions ·· 1. Place the hdn.bsp file in your \quake\id1\maps directory. 2. Run Quake. 3. Choose skill settings by typing skill 0/1/2/3 4. Load the map by typing "map hdn". 5. Die or survive :) 6. Write me an email with your impressions If you want to play the level with Qdqstats corpse removal: 1. Create a directory structure (eg. \quake\hdn\maps). 2. Place the Qdqstats progs.dat in the hdn directory 3. Place the hdn.bsp in the maps directory 4. Run Quake with "-game hdn" parameter 5. Choose skill settings by typing skill 0/1/2/3 6. Load the map by typing "map hdn" 7. Activate corpse removal with the "impulse 151" command (corpses will be removed after 1 minute). There are also other options for corpse removal with impulses 150-156. You can turn corpse removal off by typing "impulse 150" You can skip most parts of the level using some trick jumps, but if you do this you will also miss the most exciting battles. So please take the intended route for the first time you play this map. Have fun! And remember: "inside of every mapper is a sadist" :) ·· Credits ·· I would like to thank especially neg!ke, aguirRe, Mandel, Stubby, Scragbait, megaman and JPL for beta testing and lots of feedback.
