---------------------------------------------------------- The Monolith Complex BETA .2 - by Sascha Otterbein in 09/97 ---------------------------------------------------------- STORY ----- Monolith HQ, Earth, 2134. Bureau of company boss Hanckock. "Be welcomed, soldier. Take a seat as I start to familiarize you with your mission task." Hanckock advises you a seat and you sit down. "As it is already known to you, we have been in big troubles for the last months, since our most competitive concern AccoTek attacks and adopts our ore moons one after each other." You nod at him, as you have already heard about it. "Now they've occupied our most important Moon71. For this reason we are forced to take further measures against SpeTek. This means to send an armada that we've set up during the last weeks to get back what belongs to us." "But if you have an armada, so why do you need ME then?", you ask him. "Simply answered, it's difficult to achieve our goal by brutal force. This moon is protected by a SDI system, which prevents our armada to get closer." "I see... So I guess you want to drop me onto this moon to turn off its defense system, am I right?" "As always...", Hanckock grins. "The moon houses a nuclear power plant which provides the defense system with the neccessary energy. Shut it down. The success of the whole project depends on you." "This ain't any problem for me. I've coped to survive even more dangerous missions", you say. "I'm pretty common with your selfconsciousness, but you should expect a lot of hostile infantrists. We have to hurry", Hanckock replies. "Mhhh... Anything positive?" you ask him. "Oh yes, of course... There is a breathable atmosphere...", he answers "Your shuttle will take off in two hours, it has got a camouflage unit that enables it to enter an area from where you can be teleported onto the surface. It will stay in orbit till you accomplish your mission. Good luck." "Aye, Sir." you stand up and leave the room. Two hours later you leave earth with destination Moon71.
