Symposium/Mekka, Siliconvention and The Gathering will "compete" for the best releases, the best guests and the best partytime. The Gathering will probably profit from the less releases on The Party 6. So it's nearly sure that this party will be nice. So here we come to the "local competition". We think that having fun is much more important than stupid warfares between groups, systems, parties, people ... We don't like the arrogant attitude some groups and organizers of other parties exhibit towards other people, groups, systems, ... So our party will differ in that ! There are some rumours about the SILIconvention being a "commercial" party, this is not the case. Of course we have sponsors (all other partys we know of have sponsors) because without them it wouldn't be possible to keep the entrance-fee as small as possible and have nice competition-prizes as well. But there will be NO sales on the SILIconvention ! It is not a sales exhibition but a demo-party where people from all systems may have fun together. All of our sponsors are only providing equipment for the party, or prizes for the competitions. So we have excellent prizes,as you can see in the list below. Our prizes will fit the competitions, so there won't be any PC-group winning an Amiga turbo-card and no Amiga-crew will win software for the PC. We have either prizes that fit the system, or things everyone can use (for example video-game-consoles). Some people wonder why they haven't heard of the main-organizers, the reason for this may be that we are from the Acorn and Atari Falcon scene , if you are involved in one of these scenes you know us , otherwise you probably don't. The KANDU organization gives you one of the greatest events of the so far ever organized... - Here's the deal : - More than 100 hours of pure party ! - Many compos - Non-stop scene-show - The worlds largest temp network - 100+ crew members at your service - A *HUGE* video room - Lots of coke will be available - World class big-screen ! - Place and Time : - The Hamar olympic hall (or the Vikingship) was built for the 1994 winter olympics, with 12000 square meters floor space. Since all these sports activities are over, we can use it for something a bit more meaningful. - At TG96 we had over 2500 attendants, and we had absolute no problem to get a seat to every person there ! - To get there : - If you drive from Oslo, you will see the Vikingship right before you enter "Hamar". From here, just follow the signs. - If you go by train, step out at the Vikingship station. If you cannot see the party-place from there... please call! - If you come by submarine, please check that the sub is not submerged when you leave the boat. (and do congratulate the captain from me, -> the Vikingship is close to a lake, not an ocean!) - Time - This year will we open at 10:00 at wednesday 26th March, and close the hall at 16:00 sunday the 30th March. If you should arrive earlier, please contact us in advance for arrangements. - Entrance Note : at TG96 we let in aliens go for free, but this year have taken the decision that aliens will have to pay double. "ID4" really shook us up.. Girls are still let in for free, as are non-europeans who show a valid passport all other carbon based lifeforms will have to pay the fee of 300,- NOK or appx. US $50,- Pre-registration can be ordered via "billett-service" at your local Norwegian post-office. Foreigns please contact us for special arrangements. Our clever scheme to sell warm winter clothes at double prices failed last year, so this year we will let you all into a warm waiting area. Also, we have designed a brand new registration system which will crash in an even more spectacular way than the TG96 system :) - Party - Network At TG96 we set a new world standard for party networking. At TG97 we will provide at least 1500 connections, 70 segments at 10MBits and a 155MBit ATM backbone. High quality network adapters will be sold at bargain prices, but details are still unclear on this one. Our experienced network crew have been scrambled once again and will work around the clock to get you connected... We will take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended TG96 and gave us the necessary inspiration to do it again once more.
