January 2026 ================================================================================================= Title : thechnopolis Files : burning2.wad burning2.txt Author : Pablo Dictter Email Address : [redacted] Description : an easy tech-base map for doom2 Credits : tobias münch for testing and comments id for doom and the authors of the tools i use and of course the idgames archive maintainers. ================================================================================================= * Play Information * Game : Doom 2 v1.9 Level(s) Replaced : MAP01 Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes [untested] Deathmatch 2-4 Player : No Difficulty Settings : Yes New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New Music : Yes [e2m2 from doom] * Construction * Level Editor : various doom builder versions over the years + eureka on either mac/win/linux Other Editors : slade & zokumbsp Known Bugs : detailed info below * Info * map was made from an old unfinished wad from early 2010, originally for ultimate doom [for tobias munch's visions of eternity project]. it was left abandoned for years, then some small work here and there, it briefly became a zdoom map at one point and then abandoned once more until sometime in late 2025 when it was mixed with another unfinished base map [from that same time & also for tobia's voe project] and other tiny chunks were added from mid 2010s & early 2020s, added new areas, re-work some to deal with visplane crashes and layout and it became the map that it is today. apart from the bfg and supershotgun, the other weapons can be found in some not so out of the way areas, still out of the way but not really, so explore! [as annoying as that can be for some]. some enemies might or may not take a few seconds to teleport in specific areas. unsure as to why, so far it has all worked without issues with the original engine/chocolate-doom but with woof or zdoom ports sometimes there is a pause before they show up, some take up to 10s to appear in rare cases. *feb 2026* fixes here and there to hopefully get rid of visplane overflow crashes... hopefully... as well as being stuck behind a tech lamp in the tower inside the blue key area. so thanks to @man_with_gun and @BEG from the doomworld forums for letting me know about these issues! burning1: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/burning1 ================================================================================================= * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may NOT use this WAD as a base to build additional WADs.
