The SLFMap window shows all symbols in a symbol list file (SLF) in a series of cells layed out in a rectangular grid. Each cell contains the symbol name and a value by which the cells are currently sorted. In addition the cells are color coded for an easy overview of the current state. In addition the color spectrum is shown indicating the current % or $ range. To create a new SLFMap window: Initially the selection box on the SLFMap Toolbar shows ---None--- and the buttons next to it are disabled. Select a symbol list file from the selection box and the buttons become enabled. Once an slf file has been selected it can other be opened in a chart window or an SLFMap window by pressing the appropriate button. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet and have selected a quote source before creating an SLFMap window since the program tries to retrieve the latest quotes for the symbols. If a symbol is invalid the message "bad symbol for quote request? xxx" is displayed in the status bar as well as in the Status Messages dialog. The symbols in an SLFMap window can be sorted several ways. See the SLFMap menu for more information. A symbol in a cell can be viewed in a chart by dragging the cell to an existing chart. You can see the range values of a color cell by left clicking in a cell in the color spectrum at the bottom. |
