Hardware | IntelPentium with 64 MB of memory or Solaris Sparc station with 64 MB of memory |
Software | JavaRuntime Environment 1.2 (JRE 1.2)
Java Cryptographic Extension 1.2 (JCE1.2) |
The Java Runtime Environment 1.2 is needed in order to install and to run LexiGuard™. The LexiGuard™ installation CD contains a copy of the JRE 1.2. Alternatively, the JRE 1.2 can be downloaded from Sun's website at the URL http://java.sun.com
The Java Cryptographic Extension 1.2 is export-restricted.
You must download it from Sun's website. They validate from your email
address that you are located in the United States or Canada.
1. Make sure your system permits
a sufficient number of environment variables to be
created. We recommend that
you set the environment size to a minimum of 2048.
There are a number of ways to do
this. In Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 you can do the following:
1. Open a DOS prompt window.
2. Click on the Properties button in the toolbar.
3. At the end of the Cmd line, add the text
'/e:2048'
If this text line is already present, change the existing number to 2048
or greater.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon and then double-click
on the CD drive icon. You will see two icons representing the contents
of the LexiGuard installation CD.
One icon denotes the JRE 1.2.2 (Java Runtime Environment);
the other icon denotes the LexiGuard package.
3. Determine whether you have a JRE 1.2.2 installed on
your computer. Type the command:
java -version
If your computer responds:
java version 1.2.2
then you have the correct version of the Java Runtime Environment needed to install and run LexiGuard; you do not have to install the JRE from the CD -- skip to step 3.
If you have an earlier version of the JRE or none at all, then you must install JRE 1.2.2 from the CD. To do this:
Double-click on the JRE 1.2.2 folder icon
Click on windows folder
Click on the jre1_2_2-win-i.exe
Follow the instructions in the install shield
3. Double-click on the CD icon.
Click on LexiGuard1.0 folder.
Click on Setup and follow the instructions displayed
by InstallShield.
4. There are three modes of installation of LexiGuard:
5. After the software has been installed, you must reboot the system to effect the environment variable changes.
Note: If the system has trouble starting the program,
click the operating system below
on which you installed software for steps to correct
the problem.
1. Bring up the Contol Panel from the Start menu, Settings submenu. In the Control Panel, double-click the icon Add/Remove Programs. Locate the item LexiGuard and click the button Add/Remove...
