          Final Update

Hello folks. This is Snowman, bringing you a contest.
Yes, you guessed it. YOU HAVE TO WRITE A SONG.
Musicians from the PC, Amiga, MacIntosh, and Atari
scenes are all encouraged to enter. The prizes are modest,
but the goal of this contest is to allow computer musicians
from all across Earth to "show their stuff."
For a quick look at what a contest entry looks like,
check out file $$THECUT.<ZIP,LZH> included in the last version
          of these rules.

          ---------
          The Rules
          ---------

          1. The song's uncompressed length must not be more than 300,000
               bytes in length
          2. The musical format can be any one of the following:
MOD: can be the 4, 6, or 8 legged variety
669: must play correctly on Composer v1.3
               S3M: must play correctly on S3MPLAY v0.9b
STM: must play correctly on DMP v2.71
FAR: must play correctly on Farandole v1.00
ULT: must play correctly on Ultra Tracker v1.3
MTM: must play correctly on Multitracker v1.00b
          3. All entries are to be submitted before January 1st, 1994.
               (see UPLOAD.TXT in this archive)
          4. Only one entry per person
          5. Songs already released are not allowed to enter
          6. The archive name must use the format:
$$FILENM.<ZIP,ARJ,LHA,LZH> -- where FILENM is your song
               title.
NOTE: Unfortunately, Internet does not accept files that
start with "$$", so if you upload it to an FTP site,
just strip the "$$". When I upload your song to a
BBS, I'll put the "$$" back in.
The file name must use the format:
               $$FILENM.<MOD,669,S3M,STM,FAR,ULT,MTM> -- where FILENM is
               your song title.
          7. The song must have your handle and/or name in it.
          8. The text file SUBMIT.TXT (included in this archive) must
be completed and included in your song's archive.
          9. The song's archive may include any BBS ads, group .NFOs,
FILE_ID.DIZs, or any other such thing.

          Comments and Suggestions
          ------------------------

          A. If you don't include your home mailing address in the
SUBMIT.TXT form, I won't be able to send you your
               prize :(
          B. If, for some reason, I can not download, unarchive, or
play your song correctly, it is your loss. I have
been in this racket for quite some time now and know
what I am doing, so chances are that if something is
wrong, its probably not my fault
          C. Upload your song to more than one location

          -------
          Judging
          -------

There is a commitee of 5 member who will be voting on the
songs. Here they are in no particular order:

               1. Daniel Potter (author of Farandole tracker)
               2. Mike Phillips (sysop of Digital Oxygene BBS)
               3. Daniel Goldstein (author of MultiTracker Module Editor)
               4. Snowman (author of this contest)
               5. Rob Butler (sysop of the Music Connection BBS)

Results will be gathered and posted as soon as possible
          after January 1st.

          ------
          Prizes
          ------

The top five winners will be mailed a HD 3.5 disk with
all of the top songs on it. Unfortunately, on a college
budget, that is about the best prize I can offer.
