Bitsavers' Big Book of Bit Saving
Chapter One: The Beginning
This is a place-holder until Chapter One is done.
Bitsavers is a curated web site dealing with primary-source reference material
in a knowledge domain that few people are actively archiving revolving around
media preservation and historical non-consumer computers.
This is a book on how the sausage is made. A brain-dump of lots of accumulated
knowledge about how to save primary resource material and data on magnetic media
prompted by the passing of my friend Chuck Guzis in 2025 and realizing there is
going to be a lot of experience lost if it isn't written down in a document that
is preserved in multiple places around the world. The core mission of bitsavers.
This will be structured like a laboratory notebook
containing things the pdf directories do not
