This package uses new scripting and functionality to be able to build itself if necessary. The RPM package can be used against most any kernel flavor within the supported distributions, in this case (RedHat EL WS 3 for x86). - Easier to use via provided helper scripts. With the mechanics of this package, every time you change kernels whether it be UP to SMP, or picking up a new errata kernel, you can use the provided scripts to do a 1-step reconfiguration of the driver to work with the new kernel. - Better documentation on how to use this package, and how to take advantage of other more advanced installtion options available to you. - Also provides example configuration files for XFree. This driver packages only supports XFree 4.3.x, and is intended for use with RedHat EL WS 3 only. HOW TO USE: 1. You must be ROOT user with no X-server running (init 3). 2. Check for existing 'fglrx_...' packages, at prompt type: 'rpm -qa | grep fgl' Also, check for packages starting with "fire": 'rpm -qa | grep fire' 3. Remove any previous package, for example: 'rpm -e fireglrx-2.4.18.26.7.x_2.9.6-1.i586.rpm 4. Install the new package: 'rpm -ivh fireglrx-4.3.0_3.2.9-4.i586.rpm' NOTE: This will install the package file onto the system, but does not configure the new driver. 5. Configure the new package by executing script: '/opt/hp/graphics/ati/configure' NOTE: This will place/build, and configure the ATI accelerated graphics module. **It will also move aside any current XF86Config file and put a standard ATI one in place.
