DESCRIPTION:
This package contains the Altiris Local Recovery software for the listed notebook models and operating systems. The Altiris Local Recovery (ALR) software provides local-drive backup support by saving copies of files in a "snapshot" that can be easily restored should files be deleted or become corrupted. ALR also takes a snapshot of a user's system and settings so the system can be restored to any saved working state, while preserving current data files.

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Improves performance of initial snapshot after "golden image" creation
significantly (as much as 200 percent).
- Updates localizations for: French, Chinese (Traditional), Spanish, Italian,
and Japanese.
FIXES:
- Fixes issue where a "critical temperature" message was displayed during
the image creation portion of ALR.
- Fixes issue where a system "blue screen" error was generated during a
system restart (reboot) after installing ALR with a 1394 hard drive attached
to the system.
- Fixes issue where ALR displays a second percentage bar after AC power is
unplugged.
- Fixes issue where the Event Viewer displays an "Error accessing the JobQueue"
message after the initial snapshot has been completed.
- Fixes issue where the Help button on the "Recovery Agent Space Management"
tab does not work.
- Fixes issue during a rollback where the failure message, "Data could not be
accessed" is displayed.
- Fixes issue where the system becomes unstable or is corrupted if a restore
is attempted during a resume from Standby or Hibernation mode.
- Fixes an issue that occurs after upgrading from version 6.0 to version 6.1
where attempting a restore puts the system in a endless restart loop.
PREREQUISITES:
- Earlier versions of the Altiris Local Recovery software should be uninstalled
before installing this SoftPaq (highly recommended).

NOTE: The new version of the Altiris Local Recovery software can be installed
without removing previous versions; however, it is highly recommended that
any previous version of the ALR software be uninstalled by using the Add/Remove
Programs feature in the Microsoft Windows Control Panel before installing this
new version of ALR. By uninstalling previous ALR versions first, when this new
version is installed, it ensures that a good, clean backup image is created.

HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to
unpack the ALR program files and to place the ALR icon in the Start menu.

NOTE: The preceding steps do not install the ALR program. To install ALR,
click Start, then click All Programs, and then select "Install Altiris Local
Recovery." You are prompted with a brief tutorial that explains the ALR
product. From the tutorial, you can either exit or continue the installation.
