Enhancements/Fixes: When serially connecting a HP Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) to a computer running one of the above mentioned Microsoft Windows versions, a plug-and-play message will pop up directing you to choose a UPS device driver source. This will occur each time Windows is rebooted. To address this we have included the appropriate file "hpups.inf" that Windows needs to complete the plug-and-play installation for the UPS device. Note that this driver installation file (hpups.inf) will not install any actual UPS device driver. HP Power Manager or HP Rack and Power Manager software will be required to properly configure and manage supported HP UPS. For a complete list of all supported UPS, please view the support matrix at: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/power-protection/software/power-manager/index.html HOW TO USE: Install Directions: 1. Create a directory on the machine. Download the SoftPaq to that directory. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Press "Spacebar" to confirm the unpacking of files into the download directory. A directory named after the SoftPaq will be created containing the files. 3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. Connect the UPS to the computer running Windows with a UPS serial cable. A plug-and-play message comes up prompting for installing UPS driver. To complete the installation, follow the on screen instructions and when prompted, browse to the file "hpups.inf" created by this SoftPaq. Once installation is complete the plug-and-play message will not pop up again for this device during subsequent restarts of the computer. 5. After the installation is completed, you may delete the files unpacked in step 2. Copyright 2005 HP Corporation. All rights reserved.
