PREREQUISITES: - Altiris Deployment Server 5.6 SP1 (or later) must be installed if using the provided sample scripts for remote deployment. - Microsoft Windows XP Embedded Operating System with SP2 (Image version 5.01.212 or later) must be installed on the thin client. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. NOTE: The SoftPaq installation provides a tool that creates and sets firewall policies and agent options. The created stddef.dat file can be successfully deployed to the client by completing the following steps after executing the installation package: 1. To properly remove the software, commit the changes to flash memory by executing the following command: C:\windows\system32\ewfmgr.exe c: -commit 2. Execute a restart (reboot) after the changes are committed to flash memory. The reboot can be completed from an Altiris deployment server job. ALTIRIS INSTRUCTIONS: 1. After modifying the enclosed example batch file, create a new job in the Altiris deployment server. 2. Add a reboot to the job. 3. Select the ''Run the Script from file'' option and select the appropriate batch file. 4. The ''In which OS would you like to run this script?'' option must be changed to ''Windows.'' NOTE: The ''Window state'' option can be set to any of the options. 5. Add a reboot to the job. 6. Select the ''Run the Script from file'' option and in the ''run this script'' box type: C:\windows\system32\sleep.exe 60 C:\windows\system32\ewfmgr.exe c: -commit 7. Add a reboot to the job.
