This package contains the ROM Update Utility (RUU) and ROM image for the listed iPAQ Multimedia Messenger models and operating systems. IMPORTANT: The RUU is designed to replace the current ROM image and to erase the partnership and all user data and programs on the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger. It is important to read and understand the information in the Readme file that is included with this update BEFORE installing this package. This ROM update supersedes HP SoftPaq Number sp34053 titled, "HP rw6800 Multimedia Messenger Series ROM Update," version 1.00.03 and includes all the Enhancements and Fixes listed for sp34053. NOTE: After updating to version 1.01.03 of the BIOS, the PDAmill GameBox Classics and the PDAmill GameBox Gems applications will also need to be updated. Look for updated versions of these applications on the HP website (www.hp.com) Software and Driver Downloads page for your iPAQ Multimedia Messenger model. |

Fixes the following issues for the Pocket Music application: - Fixes issue with a Bluetooth stereo headset where the audio does not switch to the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger speakers after the headset is shut off. - Fixes issue where the touchscreen is not responsive for five minutes after using the Pocket Music application to listen to a combination Bluetooth stereo/hands-free headset and accepting or placing a phone call with the headset. - Fixes issue where noise can be heard after Suspending the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger and then resuming from Suspend mode. - Fixes issue where noise can be heard when playing music if the equalizer function is enabled. - Fixes issue where the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger performance is very slow when playing music with the equalizer function enabled. - Fixes issue where distorted sound or music can be heard after ending a phone call during which the Pocket Music application is playing music. Fixes the following issues for Singapore Mobile Operators: - M1: Changes Operator Names from "SGP-M1-3GSM" to "Me". - M1: Fixes issue where users are unable to dial the 171* service. - M1: Updates MMS, Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS settings. - M1: Updates the User Name for the Internet, Wireless Access Points (WAP), and MMS services. - Singtel: Changes to use single Access Point Node (APN). Fixes the following issues for New Zealand Operators: - Vodafone: Updates Operator settings. - Vodafone: Updates the Internet APN Name. Fixes the following issue for Indonesian Operators: - Telkomsel: Corrects the Gateway, APN, and Carrier names. |

- Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 (or later) is required. - Host PC must be running the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System. |
HOW TO USE: |
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the ROM update files to a directory. (NOTE: This directory should not contain any file or folder from any previous ROM upgrade.) 3. Establish an ActiveSync connection between the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger and the host PC using a USB connection. 4. The ROM Update Utility (hpRUU.exe) starts automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the ROM upgrade. NOTE: Once the update is complete, the .EXE file downloaded in Step 1 can be deleted, if desired. INSTALLATION NOTES: 1. During the update, the ROM Update Utility: - Queries the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger for current ROM image information. - Validates that the new ROM image is compatible with the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger. - Automatically places the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger in Flash mode. - Updates the ROM image on the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger. 2. IMPORTANT: Disable the Standby and Hibernation modes on the host PC. If Standby or Hibernation mode is activated during the upgrade process, a critical error may occur. 3. IMPORTANT: Plan enough time to complete the update. The total time to perform this ROM update is estimated at 20 minutes. 4. IMPORTANT: Do not interact with the HP iPAQ Multimedia Messenger or remove it from AC power or the cradle/cable once the status bar appears on the iPAQ Multimedia Messenger and the actual update has started. 5. If an error message is displayed during the update process, follow any available instructions to correct the condition and start the ROM Update Utility again. 6.
