Note: * "On most monitors it is a function of the graphics controller - the monitor is an analog device, and takes an analog input signal - this means that in theory the monitor can display an infinite number of colors. The controller is a digital device, and is limited by memory constraints as to the number of colors it can put out. It puts these colors into an digital-analog converter to suit the needs of the monitor. On the TFT monitor, the controller board will convert this analog input signal into a digital signal that the TFT panel can understand. So, while at the MONITOR level we can accept any number of input colors, those input colors will be mapped into 262K colors for display. This means that the monitor can support any number of colors thrown out by the video controller, but only 262K colors will be displayed." |
