Introduction
Compaq Computer Corporation is pleased to announce the Compaq TFT5000S Flat Panel Color Monitor. This monitor is a reliable, high-resolution, 15-inch TFT (thin-film-transistor) color monitor with 12 factory-preset modes. Its flat panel space-saving design is suitable for use in small working areas or for those who need more desk space. Additionally, it is supported by a Compaq Three-Year Limited Warranty.

Warranty
The Compaq TFT5000S Monitor is supported by the Compaq Three-Year Limited Warranty program. First-year warranty coverage is for parts, labor, and on-site repair. Second and third year coverage is for parts only. Warranty upgrades and extensions are available.NOTE: Any TFT panel has the potential to retain an image on the display if the monitor is left on with the same image on the screen for a prolonged period. Image retention is not a warranted failure. Compaq recommends that customers use screen savers or turn their monitors off when not in use.
In the U. S., the TFT5000S Monitor is also eligible for the "48-Hour Direct Replacement " (Monitor Swap) program. This level of coverage is provided at no additional cost to the end-user, and is considered part of the product’s standard Warranty and any Warranty Extensions/Upgrades purchased for the unit. Warranty Upgrade and Extensions (CarePaq)
Compaq has developed several CarePaq service offerings to enhance the support provided by the display product warranty. CarePaqs are packaged service offers that can be resold by Compaq Service Resellers at the time of product sale.

TFT Display
Thin-film-transistor panels of the type used in the TFT5000S Monitor have over two million transistors (three per pixel) that make up the display. It is within the product specifications to have a limited number of pixels that are inoperative. These inoperative pixels may appear as "dark dots" (pixels that are always off) or "bright dots" (pixels that are always on). Replacement of monitors that have inoperative transistors, within the specified limits, is not recommended as the replacement monitor will have inoperative transistors also, and may, in fact, have more than the original.
The TFT5000S Monitor is not considered defective if it meets the following criteria:
Spare Parts
In an effort to facilitate service for customers, Compaq has implemented a whole unit replacement (WUR) process for this TFT monitor similar to that used for CRT monitors.
