INTRODUCTION
Compaq Computer Corporation is pleased to announce the new Compaq TFT8000
Flat Panel Monitor. This monitor features a 18.1-inch,
Thin-Film-Transistor (TFT) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) optimized for
viewing at 1280 x 1024 with true color (16.7 million colors) and
160-degree (horizontal and vertical) wide-angle IPS viewing technology.
The flat panel design takes up less than half the desk space of a 21-inch
CRT monitor.
KEY FEATURES
The new monitor has the following key features:

WARRANTY
The new monitor is covered by the Compaq Three-Year Limited Warranty,
which covers parts and labor and includes onsite repair for the first
year. Coverage for the second and third years is for parts only.
Warranty upgrades and extensions are available.
NOTE: It is possible that a TFT panel will retain an image on the display
if the monitor is left on with the same image for a prolonged
period. Image retention ("burn in") is not a warranted failure.
Compaq recommends that customers use screen savers or turn their
monitors off when not in use.

TFT DISPLAY
The TFT panels used in the TFT8000 Flat Panel Monitor have over 3.9
million transistors (3 per pixel) making up the monitor. The product
specifications permit a limited number of pixels to be inoperative. These
inoperative pixels may be dark dots (pixels that are always off) or bright
dots (pixels that are always on). Replacement of monitors that have so
few inoperative transistors that they are still within the specified
limits is not recommended because the replacement monitor may have more
inoperative transistors than the original.
The TFT panel is not considered defective if it meets the following
criteria:
o The number of dark dots visible on a white screen does not exceed 8,
with no more than 2 dark dots within 0.60-inch (1.5 cm) of each other.
o The number of bright dots visible on a dark or black screen does not
exceed 8 (no more than 5 may be green). High-level bright dots (red or
green) are not to be within 1 inch (2.54 cm) of each other, and
low-level bright dots (blue) are not to be within 0.60 inch of each
other.
