OS/2 SERVICE AND SUPPORT IBM Service and Support is committed to solving problems customers discover using OS/2. We appreciate and welcome all information, feedback, and suggestions you report regarding our product. Your input is very valuable to us and has helped us improve our product and our service support. Our service channels are receiving positive feedback on OS/2 2.0 from our customers. There are a few problems causing some customers difficulties. For problems we consider serious and affect many of our customers, we are making selective fixes available. Our selective fix strategy allows a customer to apply only the fix they need. This will address individual customer needs better and be more timely. Selective fixes are available electronically on COMPUSERVE, IBMLINK, and other bulletin boards. The fix will include a problem description, a readme for installation considerations, an installation command file, and the fix. The selective fixes currently available solve the following problems: (ATTACHMENT 1) IBM will be working closely with our customers to keep them informed of the selective fixes which are available and the ones we are working on. The fixes we are targeting to make available soon are: (ATTACHMENT 2) Over time, Service Packs will be available which will include all selective fixes and improvements we make across the product. We will make public a list of APARs which will be included in the next Service Pack. This list will be updated periodically prior to releasing the Service Pack. The delivery dates of our Service Packs are driven by customer feedback. Our first Service Pack will be available in the Fall. It will be available electronically and by diskette for a nominal charge (materials and handling). Most of our service calls are installation, set-up and usage types of questions. There are about 50 problems generating the majority of the remaining calls. We are pleased that the total number of problems our development team is working on matches our quality improvement projections. IBM is interested in all problems our customers experience using OS/2 2.0. All will get special consideration for either immediate resolution or future improvements to the product.
