UniversalHelp is the first product of its type for simultaneous authoring of Windows and OS/2 Help and will export Windows RTF and OS/2 IPF source files on demand. UniversalHelp is an interactive WYSIWYG authoring environment that simulates the Windows help system, and features point-and-click defining of "hypertext controls", testing of "hypertext jumps", and creation of "popup definition topics" on-the-fly. Windows and OS/2 Help authors will never again have to struggle with footnotes, hidden text, or "markup" tags. UniversalHelp will import existing RTF and IPF source files for interactive WYSIWYG editing, updating, and exporting to Windows RTF and OS/2 IPF source files. "We believe UniversalHelp meets a very specific need of software publishers and multinational MIS departments," said F. Scott Pierce, president of Softronics. "With the release of Windows 3.x and OS/2 2.0, more and more developers are creating applications for both environments. Using UniversalHelp, they will be able to cut their effort in half." UniversalHelp is used in conjunction with Microsoft Word for Windows 2.0. Using Word as a platform provides the user full access to all of its features, including spelling checker, thesaurus, grammar checker, glossary, and on-the-fly table and list creation.
