STI Releases Fastest Barcode Software in the Industry

Boca Raton, FL -- February 17, 1994 -- Solution Technology, Inc. announces the availability of its Version 1.5 Barcode Anywhere(TM) software package.  This release, which is achieving the fastest throughput and most accurate read rates in the industry, is available for immediate shipment and has been installed in over 300 customer sites since January, 1994.

These customers have realized a significant improvement over version 1.42 and, as before, this performance is accomplished without special hardware.  The results of our 32 bit test suite running OS/2 2.1 indicates version 1.5 runs at 22ppm compared to the 16 bit version 1.42 at 13ppm or an increase of 69%.  The test suite consisted of actual trucking waybills with one peel-and-stick barcode at different angles on the page.  Subsequent testing with one barcode located anywhere on a clean white page ran at speeds of 49ppm.  These results were achieved by the incorporation of new and advanced algorithms in the version 1.5 release.

Version 1.5 achieved a zoned scanning speed of less than one (1) second per page (65 pages per minute) running in 32 bit mode without any special hardware. This speed was recorded using a blank white page with the barcode located somewhere within a user designated area.  This is the first product in the industry to achieve a scan and read rate of less than one (1) page per second without special hardware!

Additionally Solution Technology has developed features that allow Barcode Anywhere to maintain over 98% accuracy.  These features include: the ability to read 100 barcodes on a single page, the ability to perform damaged barcode repair, the ability to do full page image analysis directly from G4 compressed data, and bi-directional reading to name just a few.
