CD-ROM Premastering/Mastering Software for OS/2

Cirrus Technology's Unite CD-Maker software, developed using
IBM's state-of-the-art System Object Model (SOM) and Workplace
Shell technology, is a complete software package for creating
your own custom CDs. CD-ROM discs can hold more than 600 MB of
data and are readable by virtually any DOS, Windows, OS/2, and
UNIX system with a CD-ROM drive. Unite CD-Maker simplifies the
process of creating permanent archives of critical data and
mastering industry standard CDs for universal
interchangeability. Use Unite CD-Maker to solve your backup,
archive, and distribution problems.

MAKES THE WRITER A READER TOO!

OS/2 cannot normally recognize a CD-recordable device as a
CD-ROM reader.  Unite CDlMaker device drivers overcome this
limitation, allowing the CD-recordable drive to be used for both
reading and writing! No second CD-ROM drive is necessary!

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

- OS/2 compatible system running OS/2 WARP Version 3.0 or later
- PC 486/33 or higher
- 8 MB of RAM minimum / 16 MB recommended
- Hard disk drive
  Disk drive space:  4 MB for installation and up to 650 MB for
    each virtual CD image file.
  Disk drive speed:
  Single speed recording: most standard hard drives
  Double or quad speed recording:  Fast hard disk with an average
    seek time of 12 milliseconds or faster and transfer rate of 1.2
    MB per second or better.
- 3.5" Floppy disk drive
- ISA, EISA, MCA, VLB, or PCI bus architecture SCSI controller
- CD-recordable device (see Supported Hardware and Software
  specification sheet for specific models and recommended media)
- OS/2 Presentation Manager supported monitor (high and low
  resolution)
- Mouse or compatible pointing device

ALLOWS PRE-WRITE TEST BURNS

Before writing to the disc, the Unite CD-Maker software lets you
run a "test burn" to verify  that your system is fast enough to
perform a successful write at the selected speed.

MULTI-THREADED PERFORMANCE

Unite CD-Maker takes full advantage of OS/2's multi-tasking
capabilities to increase the speed and reliability of CD
creation. Unite CD-Maker uses multiple "threads" to read data
from the hard drive and write data to the CD-R drive
simultaneously. This performance boost allows you to burn your
CDs at higher speeds. The multi-threaded design also provides a
user-adjustable memory buffer and visual buffer meter to greatly
reduce the chance of failed burns. No DOS or Windows CD-making
software can provide these features!

SUPPORTS ISO 9660

ISO 9660 is the internationally accepted format for the
universal interchangeability of CD-ROMs.  Established by the
International Standards Organization (ISO), the ISO 9660 format
is ideal for users who need to distribute large amounts of data
to a variety of computer platforms.  Unite CD-Maker creates
CD-ROM discs that can be read by virtually any DOS, Windows,
UNIX, and OS/2 system with a CD-ROM drive.
