This annual award is given by a team of Miller Freeman editors and columnists to products that "jolt" the industry with their significance. The award is co-sponsored by Software Development magazine and Jolt Cola, a high-caffeine, high-sugar soft drink known to be popular with programmers working late at night. Award winners receive a trophy -- a can of Jolt Cola encased in lucite. Essential Client/Server Survival Guide was published by Van Nostrand Reinhold in 1994 (ISBN 0-442-01941-6, IBM SR28-5572, 495 pages, $25). The book provides a "gentle guide" to client/server and distributed objects. An extended version of the book is "Client/Server Survival Guide with OS/2" (ISBN 0-442-01798-7, IBM SR28-5494, 970 pages, $40). Miller Freeman, Van Nostrand Reinhold and the authors are members of IBM's Independent Vendor League (IVL). The IVL supports individuals and companies who develop and market books, newsletters, magazines, training videos, courseware and consulting services for OS/2 and other IBM personal software products. ____________________________________________________________________ This news release is from the IBM IVL News Service and may be freely copied and distributed.
