UNITE STORAGER

Optical and CD-Recordable Jukebox Storage Management for OS/2

Cirrus Technology's Unite Storager provides data storage and
retrieval for optical and CD-recordable jukeboxes. Unite
Storager is used to create the storage management system that
meets your needs. A graphical user interface is provided to
start, control, tune, and stop Unite Storager. Administrative
functions such as the importing, labeling, and exporting of
platters can be performed using the graphical user interface.

A full set of 32-bit APIs is provided to enable you to develop a
client program to store and retrieve files. Unite Storager can
be integrated into development environments such as IBM's
VisualAge.

Supported hardware vendors include Pioneer, Hewlett Packard,
Sony, DISC, Panasonic, and others. Both WORM (Write Once Read
Many) and read/write media are supported. Dynamic, user-defined
tuning parameters are available for optimizing performance. Data
is stored to the media either in high performance data blocks or
in an administrator-friendly file system (FAT) format.

MULTI-THREADED PERFORMANCE!

Unite Storager takes full advantage of OS/2's multi-tasking
capabilities to manage thousands of store and retrieve requests
while simultaneously reading and writing to all drives in the
jukebox. Unite Storager is so efficient, it can even burn
CD-recordable discs while under the heaviest retrieval loads.
There's no need to schedule CD-R burns for the middle of the
night. Try to find another CD-R jukebox manager that makes that
claim!

OPTIMIZATION OF STORAGE MANAGEMENT REQUESTS

Store and retrieve requests are sorted by type and volume name
to maximize throughput and minimize retrieval wait time. Your
data will be retrieved quickly, no matter how heavy the storage
load.

AUTOMATIC CREATION OF CD-ROM BACKUPS

With the click of a check-box, Unite Storager can be instructed
to create a second copy of each CD-ROM burned. The duplicate
CD-ROMs can be removed and stored elsewhere for maximum backup
protection.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

- Pentium processor with at least 32 MB RAM running OS/2 Warp
  Version 3.0 or greater
- Hard disk drive
  Disk drive space:  10 MB for installation and if using
    CD-recordable jukebox, 1.3 GB for a CD-R drive cache area and a
    virtual CD image file area
  Disk drive speed (relevant to CD-recordable jukeboxes only):  
    Single speed recording: most standard hard drives
    Double or quad speed recording:  Fast hard disk with an
    average seek time of 12 milliseconds or  faster and transfer
    rate of 1.2 MB per second or better
- 3.5" Floppy disk drive
- PCI bus architecture SCSI controller
- Jukebox  (see supported hardware/software specification sheet)
- OS/2 Presentation Manager supported monitor (high and low
  resolution)
- Mouse or compatible pointing device
