***************************************************************************** C SET ++ V3 BETA ANNOUNCEMENT ----------------------------- IBM announces the availability of a limited quantity beta offering of the IBM C Set ++ for OS/2 version 3.0 product. DESCRIPTION : ----------- The package contains the beta code available to date for the OS/2 C Set ++ product. The C Set ++ V3.0 beta is based on the currently available C Set ++ V2.1 with the exception of KASE:Set (which is replaced by a new visual builder from IBM), and consists of the following components: - C/C++ Compilers (including Direct-To-SOM) - Visual Builder - ILink - LPEX (editor) - PM Debugger - IBM Class Library: User Interface (also known as ICLUI) - IBM Class Library: Collection Classes ) - AT&T Tasking, I/O and Complex libraries (Standard Class Library) - EXTRA, the Execution Trace Analyser - a profiling tool - Browser - Workframe/2 V2.1 - Toolkit V2.1 for C Set++ (unchanged from the original release in 4Q93) This beta requires OS/2 V2.1 and above. For WARP, we have done minimal testing. Feel free to try this beta with WARP, and report your findings! The following gives some main areas of change, but is not an exhaustive list: 1. Direct to SOM (DTS) support added to the compiler. 2. A new visual front end replacing KASE:Set. 3. Completely new - and fast - linker. 4. A brand new language-sensitive editor. 5. DTS support in the debugger plus other assorted changes. 6. New ICLUI classes - 2D graphics, toolbar, multimedia. 7. Dynamically loaded DLL support in EXTRA. 8. A totally new browser - faster, more intuitive. 9. New memory management in the C runtime. WHO QUALIFIES: ------------- You are eligible if you have C Set++ version 2.1. Proof of purchase such as a C Set registration number or a copy of a purchase invoice or bill of sale is required.
