.fo off IBM 5250 Adapter/A -- Part #64G3494 PC Support & Communications Manager Support Instructions Instructions for Using the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A Under PC Support/400 1. Load the PCS software to the target machine using the installation procedures provided with PCS software. 2. Copy the files from the SSPCS directory on the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE to the default PCS directory of the target machine. 3. Edit the STARTPCS.BAT file on the target machine a. Locate the line reading WSEAH b. For extended DOS emulation, change the line to read CALL LDMCAAH c. For basic DOS emulation, change the line to read CALL LDMCAAH B The 5250 Emulation Adapter/A will now run under PC Support/400. Instructions for Using the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A Under Communications Manager With the software provided on the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE, operation under Communications Manager is only supported with the adapter configured as follows: Memory address space DC000-DFFF I/O address space 02400-C47F Interrupt Level 5 NOTE: This level of software does not support Interrupt Sharing. You must configure all other hardware in the system unit to avoid using Interrupt 5. 1. Configure the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A using the system unit REFERENCE DISKETTE to the settings listed above. 2. Install Communications Manager to the target machine using the installation procedures provided with the Communications Manager product that you are using. 3. Build and install a basic configuration file that includes a 5250 twinaxial communications profile, according to Communications Manager instructions. 4. You will be prompted to shut down the system and reboot as part of the install configuration process. Before doing this, perform the following: a. Switch to an OS/2 command prompt and copy the T1P1SDD.SYS file from the SSCM DIRECTORY of the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE to the \CMLIB directory of the target machine. b. Edit the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file to change the following line: from: DEVICE=x:\CMLIB\T1P1NDD.SYS CFG=x:\CMLIB\yyyyyyyy.cfg to: DEVICE=x:\CMLIB\T1P1SDD.SYS CFG=x:\CMLIB\yyyyyyyy.cfg where: x represents the drive where the directory for CMLIB is located yyyyyyyy represents the .CFG file you built during installation Now shut down the system and restart. An error will occur when trying to install the T1P1SDD.SYS device driver -- this is an expected error and can be corrected on future bootings using the procedures that follow... if you are using: Communications Manager V1.0 - use Procedure 1 Extended Services Communications Manager - use Procedure 2 Procedure 1: Modifying the Configuration File Under Communications Manager 1.0 1. Press ENTER to bypass the error and continue booting OS/2. 2. After booting OS/2, select the Communication Manager/2 Group. 3. From the Communication Manager/2 Group, select the CMSETUP icon. 4. From the Communication Manager/2 Setup panel, select SETUP. 5. Indicate the configuration that you want by selecting it from the list box or by typing it in the entry field. In most cases, the configuration is the name of the configuration file in your device statement. For example, if your device statement is: device=x:\cmlib\t1p1sdd.sys cfg=x:\cmlib\yyyyyyyy.cfg your configuration file would be yyyyyyyy.cfg 6. Select the OK button. A small pop-up appears asking "Will this configuration be used on the workstation". Select the YES button. A list of the types of connections that are supported by this configuration file appears. 7. Select TWINAXIAL. This updates the Feature or Application list box, which is the list box on the right. 8. Select 5250 EMULATION FOR AS/400 ONLY, then select the CONFIGURE button. 9. The 5250 EMULATION THROUGH TWINAXIAL FOR AS/400 panel appears. 10. Select ADVANCED. 11. On the Communication Manager Profile List Sheet, select the profile name DLC-TWINAXIAL, then select the CONFIGURE button. 12. On the Twinaxial DLC Adapter Parameters panel, select ENHANCED 5250 EMULATION ADAPTER under Adapter Type. 13. In the right panel, make the following changes: Change the I/O Port to: 241A Change the Interrupt Level to: 5 Change the RAM location to: DC000 Press Enter. 14. When finished, select the OK button. 15. Select CLOSE to back out. Verify runs to verify all changes. 16. Select CLOSE to back out. 17. After successful verification, shut down and restart your system. 18. You can now install the twinaxial device driver and run 5250 Emulation under Communications Manager. Procedure 2: Modifying the Configuration File Under Extended Services Communications Manager 1. Press ENTER to bypass the error and continue booting OS/2. 2. After booting OS/2, select the Communication Manager icon. 3. From the Communications Manager Main Menu, select ADVANCED function at the command bar. NOTE: If you are prompted to select a configuration file to start Communications Manager, select the file that you created and installed earlier. 4. Select CONFIGURATION 5. Specify your configuration file name; press Enter. 6. Select SNA Feature Profiles 7. Select Data Line Control (DLC) Profiles 8. Select TWINAXIAL DLC type. 9. Select CHANGE profile operation. 10. Change the adapter type to Enhanced 5250 Emulation Adapter. The other options can be left the same; press Enter. 11. Make these changes: Change the I/O Port to: 241A Change the Interrupt Level to: 5 Change the RAM location to: DC000 Press Enter. 12. Press ESC to exit out of the Communication Configuration menu and select Verify Function at the command bar. 13. Select Run Verify to verify the changes. 14. After successful verification, shut down and restart your system. 15. You can now install the twinaxial device driver and run 5250 Emulation under Communications Manager.
