system (IFS) architecture.  Installable File Systems, like the

dependence.  The DCF/2 continues that philosophy by layering
into the kernel-IFS architecture so that OS/2 uses the DCF/2
transparently & logically without respect to host drive media
type.

The DCF/2 creates virtual disk units (VDUs), providing OS/2 with
system-wide access to compressed volumes totally transparently. 
A DCF/2 VDU appears to OS/2 as a "real" disk.  This means that
you can use all of the OS/2, Windows, or DOS tools and
applications you already have without rethinking the way you
work!


Exploit the Power of the HPFS:

The DCF/2  compressed volumes are HPFS-based.  This means that
ALL of your programs can access ALL of your files!  Even more
significantly, the HPFS-based VDUs are kept logically contiguous
by the file system itself, reducing the need to periodically
defragment your disk.  File data are stored at sector
granularity (512 bytes) instead of by archaic FAT clustering. 
This provides you with at least 20% additional data storage --
even before the DCF/2 compression!

network, or other DASD.  Removable-media such as floppy
