PCMCIA SUPPORT FOR THE GATEWAY HANDBOOK486 IN OS/2 WARP

SYMPTOMS:
  PCMCIA support does not work in OS/2 WARP on Gateway sub-
  notebooks. Gateway Handbook Socket Services are not
  available in OS/2 WARP Selective Install.


RESOLUTION:
  When installing PCMCIA support on Gateway Color Notebooks,
  follow steps for a Selective Install:

  1.  Open OS/2 System.

  2.  Open System Setup.

  3.  Open Selective Install.

  4.  Select OK, next screen appears.

  5.  Place a checkmark to the left of PCMCIA Support.

  6.  Select Install.

  7.  Select AST PowerExec.
       This loads the IBM2AST1.SYS device driver from installation discs.


NOTE:  This Device Driver may work for other notebooks with the
       same PCMCIA Socket Services chipset.
