ANNOUNCING A NEW WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT'S NEW FOR OS/2: I've created a new mailing list service that delivers a list of all the new OS/2 files to your email box every day or once a week. There are two different forms of the email messages and two different time periods for updates. I'm offering the email messages in both text and HTML formats. If you're using an email program that can display HTML such as Netscape Navigator, the HTML format is both more visually appealing and more convenient then the ascii text counterpart. Both types of mailings include the list of all the new files posted here plus the full URLs of the files, file size, and complete file description. With Netscape, subscribers simply click on the URL in your mailer and the file is sent to you. With other mailers that have URL support you can similarly download the file almost immediately. With MR/2 ICE for instance, you click the URL then right-click and select "web browser". I'm offering the file lists I generate here daily including the daily update and the new files posted over the last week. Weekly updates will be mailed every Saturday. Daily updates are mailed usually between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. To subscribe to any of the lists, send an email message to: lyris@bbs.os2bbs.com The message subject will be ignored and can simply be left blank. In the MESSAGE BODY, place the command: subscribe "list-name" where "list-name" is one of the following: os2new-1day-html os2new-1day-text os2new-1week-html os2new-1week-text Unsubscribing works exactly the same way but you say "unsubscribe" in place of "subscribe" The service obviously has the greatest utility for BBS subscribers but it is valuable just the same to everyone. Please feel free to use the email announcements to help you choose whether you want to call the BBS that day via telnet or via the dialup network. All the files on the BBS are available to anyone. There is no subscription requirement, and no upload/download ratios. Feedback on the new service is welcome. Please send email to pnorloff@os2bbs.com or leave a message on the BBS. Thanks very much.
