Using HP ScanJet IIp under under IBM OS/2 Warp I have succsfully installed the HP ScanJet IIp under Warp My system is setup with; HP ScanJet IIp OS/2 Warp IBM DOS 5.02 Windows for Workgroups 3.11 DeskScan V2.1a ASPIDR.ZIP Contains ASPI Driver for HP C2502/3A Host Adapter HP C2502/3A interface card. 20 Megs RAM New Installations ( Never attempted DeskScan install before ) 1. First you need to make sure that Warp and Windows are installed correctly. Make sure that you are able to print under DOS/Windows as well as Warp/Windows. 2. Boot Warp, start Windows and install DeskScan V2.1a, during the install you will be prompted to updateCONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI and AUTOEXEC.BAT. DO NOT allow the install to update CONFIG.SYS or SYSTEM.INI. 3. Unzip ASPIDR.ZIP in the directory you installed DeskScan in. 4. Go to Windows setting and under DOS_DEVICE add C2502-3A.SYS and SJIIX.SYS. Refer to the OS/2 documentation if you are unfamiliar with this operation. 5. If you boot DOS/Windows and want to run DeskScan, the MINI400 driver work just fine under DOS/Windows. Boot DOS and install as usual. DO NOT allow setup to update SYSTEM.INI. Fixing Installation ( Tried to get MINI400 to work ) 1. Again, make sure you system works without any problems. Test printing under DOS/Windows and Warp/Windows. 2. Boot Warp, start Windows and install DeskScan V2.1a, during the install you will be prompted to updateCONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI and AUTOEXEC.BAT. DO NOT allow the install to update CONFIG.SYS or SYSTEM.INI. 3. Unzip ASPIDR.ZIP in the directory you installed DeskScan in. 4. Go to Windows setting and under DOS_DEVICE add C2502-3A.SYS and SJIIX.SYS. Refer to the OS/2 documentation if you are unfamiliar with this operation. 5. Go to WINDOWS directory and coment out MINI400I.386 and HPSCANR.386 line in [386Enh] section. 6. This should work fine. If you have problems I can be contacted via CIS mail 71610,436. Just for the record I have windows running full screen, enhanced mode, DOS HIGH w/UMB, DPMI AUTO, 16 Megs of EMS and 16 Megs of XMS, 4 Megs DPMI and a 16Meg swap file on a 2 Gig drive( D:). Drive C: and E: share a 1 Gig drive split 250/750. The PC is a Happy motherboard 486/66 with DTC SCSI controller, Tseng Chip set VLB 1 Meg video card and Sound Blaster CD16.
