OSBPFAXM - MODEM CONFIGURATION SETTINGS FOR FAXWORKS LITE FOR OS/2 06/26/96 ======================================================================= Modem Configuration Settings for FaxWorks Lite for OS/2 ====================================================================== Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document contains important modem configuration settings for the installation and use of FaxWorks Lite for OS/2. The information is taken from the \FAXWORKS\README.DOC file. RESOLUTION Tested modems are listed below. Unless the manufacturer has changed the product since the time of testing, you should use the following information to determine correct configuration values for your fax hardware. Make these settings on the Modem Type page in the FaxWorks for OS/2 Settings notebook. (Many other modems will also work, but the vendors have not provided evaluation units for testing.) Note that manufacturers are constantly changing their modem hardware and firmware (EPROM). If you suspect a problem, please contact your modem's manufacturer for assistance in determining the exact version of your hardware and EPROM. The manufacturer may ask you to use a data communications program and issue the ATI3 command to obtain modem version information. This may improve the quality of received faxes. On a few modems, engaging this switch will cause the modem not to initialize properly. Use this switch with care. Never use this switch with a USRobotics Sportster modem. USRobotics Courier Micro Channel internal modem - has begun shipping with a default setting that loads during installation on the Reference Diskette or Reference Partition. This setting prevents return codes from reaching the fax program. This must be changed. The user or installer must enter the reference information area on the Micro Channel machine and make sure that return code information is not blocked, otherwise the fax program will never be able to tell if your modem is responding correctly. It will return an error message to you saying that the modem is not responding correctly, until you disable the return code blockage. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
