OSBPULTM - ULTIMEDIA MAIL/2 LITE VER. 2.1 (ULTIMAIL) DOES NOT ACCEPT "ACCESSING A NETWORK" INFORMATION 10/06/95 ====================================================================== Ultimedia Mail/2 Lite Ver. 2.1 (UltiMail) Does Not Accept "Accessing a Network" Information ====================================================================== Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION UltiMail fails during startup when information for "Accessing a Network" is entered. No matter what information is entered, the information is deleted and must be reentered. This is an endless loop and can be broken only by canceling UltiMail. This problem was discovered in UltiMail version 2.10.001 (as shipped with OS/2 Warp Connect and available from ftp.ibm.net). It happens most frequently with *other* providers, not Advantis. RESOLUTION Add (or edit) the USER section to UMAIL.PRO, the UltiMail profile. 1. Using a text editor, open UMAIL.PRO, which is in the TCPIP\UMAIL directory. 2. Locate :USER and verify the following information. (If this section is not present, add it in the following format.) :USER id = 'ibm' other_id = 'Internet' name = 'John Doe' reply_id = 'ibm' reply_domain = 'ibm.net' where: id is your POP3 user ID (usually the same as your logon ID for your provider). other_id is always "Internet" for a dial-up connection. name is your full name, as it is to appear in your letters. reply_id is everything before the @ symbol in your e-mail address. reply_domain is everything after the @ symbol in your e-mail address. 3. File UMAIL.PRO. 4. Restart UltiMail. The "Accessing a Network" window will appear with all fields filled except Password. 5. Enter your POP3 password, and then verify it when asked. UltiMail now should start and function normally. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
