OSCPCSER - ACCESSING AND USING THE COMPUSERVE BBS 02/02/96 ======================================================================= Accessing and Using the CompuServe BBS ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document describes the procedure for downloading files from the CompuServe Bulletin Board Service. RESOLUTION Note: You will need PKUNZIP to uncompress any file that has the extension of ZIP. The latest version is PKZ204G.EXE. After downloading the file: 1. Type PKZ204 and press Enter. The file is "unzipped." 2. At an OS/2 command prompt, type E README.DOC and press Enter to view the README file. It is assumed that you have the necessary hardware and software, and are logged on to CompuServe. Instructions for logging on are in CompuServe documentation. 1. At the ! prompt, type GO IBMOS2 and press Enter. 2. Select the Support forum or User forum by pressing the 1 or 2 key and Enter. 3. Type LIB 23 (for Library 23) and press Enter. 4. To verify that the file you want is in the library, type DIR filename and press Enter. To search for a file, type DIR xx* and press Enter (xx represents the first two letters of the file name; the asterisk is used as a global search character). For example, to find the file COMMGA.ZIP, type DIR CO* and press Enter. 5. At the LIB 23! prompt, type DOWNLOAD filename and press Enter. 6. Select a protocol and press Enter. In CompuServe, CIS B usually is best. If you want to use a different protocol, make sure the communication software supports it. 7. Select the matching protocol in the communication software. Downloading begins. Files are sent to the default directory set by the communication package (or to the user directory, if previously specified). 8.
