OSCPROFF - PRINTER-ERRORS WITH OS/2 WARP 01/17/96 ======================================================================= Printer-Errors with OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION After installing OS/2 Warp, error messages are received indicating that the printer is not responding, or no printer output is received, or the output is garbled. Printing was OK with OS/2 2.1, and is OK from DOS (dual boot). If a "Printer offline" message is received when printing with OS/2 Warp, the /IRQ switch in the CONFIG.SYS BASEDEV statement for PRINT01 or PRINT02 is not being used. RESOLUTION Note: Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change. 1. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add /IRQ to the BASEDEV=PRINT0x.SYS statement. This directs the parallel-port device driver to use the interrupt method to print, instead of polling, which is the default in OS/2 Warp. 2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
