OSCWAATM - ADOBE TYPE MANAGER 3.0 PROBLEMS WITH OS/2 WARP 01/17/96 ======================================================================= Adobe Type Manager 3.0 Problems with OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When installing OS/2 Warp on a system with Adobe Type Manager 3.0, the Adobe Type Manager reverts to Version 2.5. Access to imported fonts already on the system is lost. RESOLUTION Note: Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change. How OS/2 Warp is installed determines what is modified. For Dual Boot, OS/2 Warp replaces the current ATM.INI file in the WINDOWS subdirectory. For Boot Manager, OS/2 Warp might point to the x:\PSFONTS subdirectory partition where it is installed and not to the path in the original ATM.INI file. For Dual Boot ------------- Before installing OS/2 Warp: 1. Rename the current x:\WINDOWS\PSFONTS directory to x:\WINDOWS\TPSFONTS. 2. Rename or back up the current ATM.INI file. 3. Reinstall Adobe Type Manager 2.5, 2.6, or 3.0. 4. After installation, copy x:\WINDOWS\TPSFONTS and x:\WINDOWS\TPSFONTS\PFM to the x:\WINDOWS\PSFONTS and x:\WINDOWS\PSFONTS\PFM directories. After installing OS/2 Warp: 1. Rename the current x:\WINDOWS\PSFONTS directory to x:\WINDOWS\TPSFONTS. 2. Reinstall Adobe Type Manager 2.5, 2.6, or 3.0. 3. After installation, add the fonts from the ATM ADD feature, selecting x:\WINDOWS\TPSFONTS\PFM in the Directories window. For Boot Manager ---------------- If Windows is in the same partition that OS/2 Warp will be installed in, follow steps under "Before installing OS/2 Warp." If OS/2 Warp is installed in a different partition: 1. Edit the ATM.INI file as follows: [Setup] Section: PFM_Dir=c:\psfonts\pfm PFB_Dir=c:\psfonts [Settings] Section: ATM=On QLCDir=c:\psfonts Version=3.0 TmpDir=c:\ 2. Reinstall Adobe Type Manager from diskettes. Note: Applications that are migrated need the WIN_ATM in the notebook set to ON. You might also need to reinstall any special fonts not included with Adobe Type Manager. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
