     Problems Reading the Diskette Drive on Gateway 2000 Notebooks

DESCRIPTION

Diskette drives don't read the A: drive properly on some Gateway 2000 
Notebooks. At times, OS/2 reads all the files; at other times it will 
see only a few files on the diskette. Sometimes when reading the 
diskette, you get EA errors.


RESOLUTION

1. At an OS/2 Window or Full-Screen session, type the following and
   press Enter.

     E CONFIG.SYS

2. Remove (REM) the AMP.SYS and the VAMP.SYS.

3. Shut down and restart the system.
