OSDIWPSU - CREATING A SINGLE STARTUP DISKETTE FOR OS/2 WARP 05/13/96 ======================================================================= Creating a Single Startup Diskette for OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document describes how to create a single startup (boot) diskette for OS/2 Warp. RESOLUTION 1. Open the OS/2 System folder and then the System Setup folder. 2. Select Create Utility Diskettes and follow the instructions to create the standard 3-diskette set. Label the diskettes: * BOOT * CONFIG * UTILITY 3. At a command prompt, type MD C:\TEMP and press Enter to create a temporary directory. 4. Insert the diskette labeled CONFIG in drive A; then type the following and press Enter to copy the files on the diskette to the temporary directory: XCOPY A: C:\TEMP 5. Change to the temporary directory. 6. If you have a Micro-Channel system, delete the SCREEN01.SYS and PRINT01.SYS files; otherwise, delete the PRINT02.SYS and SCREEN02.SYS files. 7. Insert the diskette labeled BOOT in drive A. 8. Type the following and press Enter to reveal the OS2KRNLI file: ATTRIB -R -H -S A:OS2KRNLI 9. Type REN OS2KRNLI OS2KRNL and press Enter to rename the file. 10. Copy the files from the temporary directory to the BOOT diskette. This is now the single startup diskette for OS/2 Warp. Note: After starting OS/2 from the startup diskette, remove the diskette and insert the diskette labeled UTILITY. Use this diskette to do anything you need.
