OSDIZEOP - ERROR MESSAGES WHILE INSTALLING OS/2 WARP ON A ZEOS PANTERA 12/07/95 ======================================================================= Error Messages while Installing OS/2 Warp on a ZEOS Pantera ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION During installation of OS/2 Warp on a ZEOS Pantera system, intermittent traps are experienced, usually during phase 2 of the installation. The following error message appears: SYS3175: A program encountered a problem and cannot continue. Note: The exact message varies; it could be something other than SYS3175. The system has a 90-MHz Pentium processor, Phoenix BIOS Version 4.03, and an Enhanced IDE controller. RESOLUTION 1. Disable the Prefetch setting from the BIOS setup. (This setting is on one of the menus for the hard drive.) 2. Restart the system and the installation. Note: The Prefetch option is associated with the controller, so this problem might occur on any system with hardware that supports such a setting, not just a system with a Pentium processor. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
