DESCRIPTION

This problem occurs during startup or installation only on systems with 
Adaptec device drivers or that have more than 17 hard drives. Registers 
may vary and cannot be pinned down at this point. 

RESOLUTION

Add the following statements to the CONFIG.SYS file: 

  basedev=aic7870.add /a:1 /i /a:0 /i
  basedev=aic7870.add /a:2 /i /a:0 /i
  basedev=aic7870.add /a:2 /i /a:1 /i

With these lines, all hard drives will be recognized.


Note: Without these lines, the problem will persist
      even with the 04/19/96 drivers.
