       Adaptec 1640 (MCA) SCSI Adapter fails in some PS/2 systems

DESCRIPTION

The system fails to load the AHA164X.ADD driver during startup on the 
following model systems:

IBM PS/2 9577-BNG
IBM PS/2 9577-ANB
IBM PS/2 9577-ANG

Other MCA (Micro Channel) PS/2 systems may also be affected.  The 
Adaptec 1640 MCA SCSI adapter was not tested by IBM for use in PS/2 
systems. There is a BIOS incompatibility between the adapter and the 
PS/2 systems.

RESOLUTION

If you purchased an Adaptec 1640 Micro Channel adapter for use in a 
PS/2 system, you should return to the point of purchase or contact 
Adaptec Technical Support at 1-800-959-7274.
