Trap000D after Loading OS2ASPI.DMD on an Adaptec 2920 Controller

DESCRIPTION

A system with an Adaptec 2920 controller encounters a trap000D error on 
startup after loading OS2ASPI.DMD, as it is attempts to load 
FD16-700.ADD.

RESOLUTION

1. Download 2920_OS2.EXE from:

   
      http://service.software.ibm.com/os2ddpak/html
      /diskands/adaptec/aha2920/index.htm
 
   Extract the files by typing 2920_OS2.

2. Insert the OS/2 Warp 4 Installation Diskette in drive A:, then 
   restart the system. Insert Diskettes 1 and 2 when prompted.  
   Press F3 at the Easy/Advanced Installation screen to escape to a 
   command prompt.

3. Type TEDIT C:\CONFIG.SYS, then press Enter (where C: is the OS/2 
   drive). Press Esc to scroll through the file. 

4. Add REM to the beginning of the BASEDEV=FD16-700.ADD statement.

5. Add the following line:  BASEDEV=AHA2920.ADD

6. Save and exit the file.

7. Copy the AHA2920.ADD file extracted in step 2 to the root directory 
   of the partition where OS/2 resides.

8. Remove any diskettes from the drive and restart the system.
