OSINBADD - PROBLEMS WITH BAD DISKETTES DURING INSTALL OF OS/2 2.1, 2.11 02/06/96 ======================================================================= Problems with Bad Diskettes during Installation of OS/2 2.1 or OS/2 2.11 ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document describes what to do if you discover a bad diskette during installation. RESOLUTION Do a DISKCOPY of the diskette that is bad and try to continue the installation. If you get the same problem, call your vendor and request a replacement diskette. If the vendor does not have a replacement diskette, contact the local IBM Branch Office listed in your phone book and request a replacement. If you still cannot obtain a replacement diskette, call: * 1-800-3-IBM-OS2 (1-800-342-6672), or * 1-800-494-3044 (Service Pak replacements) The following is a list of error messages and errors that a bad diskette can cause: * SYS02025 and SYS02027 error messages. * SYS2025 and SYS2027 error messages. * SYS0041 CRC error (cyclic redundancy error or check). * SYS0045 Bad sectors; unrecoverable read errors. * System beeps when you insert a diskette. * Continual prompts to insert the diskette. * Diskette is corrupted, damaged, erased, or doesn't work. * Diskette is marked incorrectly. * Errors cannot be fixed or recovered from. * System locks up at any diskette. * Drive A cannot find the sector requested. * No files are on the diskette. * System could not read the diskette. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
