OSINBLCR - BLACK SCREEN, BLINKING CURSOR BEFORE LOGO SCREEN DURING STARTUP 06/27/96 ====================================================================== Black Screen, Blinking Cursor Before Logo Screen during Startup ====================================================================== Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION During the installation process, you are prompted to remove the diskette and press enter to restart the system. Before the OS/2 Logo Screen appears, the system stops at a black screen, with a blinking cursor. If Boot Manager is installed, you see the Boot Manager menu. After you choose the OS/2 partition, however, the system stops at the black screen and blinking cursor. RESOLUTION 1. Insert the OS/2 Installation Diskette in drive A: and restart the computer. 2. When prompted, insert the OS/2 Installation Disk 1 and press Enter. 3. At the Welcome Screen, press F3 to escape to a command prompt. 4. Type FDISK /NEWMBR and press Enter. 5. Re-insert the OS/2 Installation Diskette and type: SYSINSTX X: (where X: is the drive that OS/2 resides on). Note: If you are using the High Performance Filing System (HPFS) on this partition, you must do the following: a. Type CD X:\OS2\DLL b. Type A:SYSINSTX X: (where X: is the drive that OS/2 resides on) 6.
