OSINBUSL - RED SCREEN DURING OS/2 WARP INSTALLATION ON SYSTEM WITH BUSLOGIC SCSI ADAPTERS 02/05/96 ======================================================================= Red Screen during OS/2 Warp Installation on System with Buslogic SCSI Adapters ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When installing OS/2 Warp on a system with a CD-ROM drive connected to a Buslogic SCSI adapter (ISA AND PCI), a red screen appears when the system attempts to access the CD. When attempting a Selective Install to add support for a CD-ROM drive when OS/2 Warp was installed without the CD-ROM drive, a SYS1201 error occurs, and the OS2DASD.DMD driver is not loaded when you restart the system. The CD-ROM drive, and any other drives correctly attached to the Buslogic SCSI adapter, are usable in DOS or Windows. If the Buslogic adapter and all the drives are transferred to another system, they all, including the CD-ROM drive, work correctly in OS/2. RESOLUTION Obtain and install the OS/2 Warp Fullpack version of the BTSCSI.ADD device driver. Certain systems seem to present a timing discrepancy to a broad range of Buslogic ISA and PCI SCSI adapters. This is resolved by using BTSCSI.ADD. Currently, there is no definitive list of OEM systems or Buslogic-adapter combinations that experience the problem. It might be possible that only some Pentium systems with specific motherboards and BIOS revisions experience the problem. It is reasonable to expect systems on the Compatibility List to work without experiencing this problem. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
