OSINCD95 - ERRORS DURING CD-ROM INSTALLATION OF OS/2 2.1 ON MODEL 9553 01/29/96 ======================================================================= Errors during CD-ROM Installation of OS/2 2.1 on Model 9553 ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION During installation from CD-ROM on an IBM Model 9553, the following errors might occur if the CD-ROM installation procedures are not followed: * Internal processing error (IPE) * System lockup * TRAP0008 or TRAP000E RESOLUTION To correctly install OS/2 2.1 on a Model 9553: 1. Make a backup copy of the OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette. Label the new diskette, "New OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette - PS/2 9553 486SLC2 Only." 2. Copy the ABIOS.SYS file and all files with a *.BIO extension from the PS/2 9553 486SLC2 Reference Diskette to the New Installation Diskette. Note: If the New Installation Diskette does not have enough room for the new *.BIO files, erase the old *.BIO files and the ABIOS.SYS file from the diskette. 3. Install OS/2 using the CD-ROM and the New Installation Diskette. 4. Continue installation from the CD-ROM, following the prompts on the screen. 5. When installation is complete, turn off the system. 6. Insert the New Installation Diskette in drive A; then turn on the system. 7. Follow the instructions until the "Welcome to OS/2" screen appears; then press Esc to go to an OS/2 command prompt. 8. Copy the ABIOS.SYS file and all files with a *.BIO extension from the diskette in drive A to the subdirectory where OS/2 is being installed. 9.
