OSINDETC - WINDOWS 3.1 WARNING MESSAGE DURING OS/2 2.1 SPECIAL EDITION INSTALLATION 01/04/96 ======================================================================= Windows 3.1 Warning Message during OS/2 2.1 Special Edition Installation ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedure ------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION While installing OS/2 2.1 Special Edition, you might receive the following message at Diskette 1, even though you have Windows 3.1 installed on your system: Windows** Version 3.1 has not been detected. RESOLUTION During installation, OS/2 2.1 for Windows looks for two files--SETUP.INF in the \SYSTEM subdirectory, and WIN.COM in the WINDOWS directory. It also checks SETUP.INF for the entries: * TITLE='Installing Windows 3.1' * INI.UPD.31 If either of the files is missing or corrupted, OS/2 displays the warning message. Check the entries in SETUP.INF. If the file does not have the required entries, rename it to SETUP.XXX; then copy the SETUP.INF file from Windows Diskette 1 to the \SYSTEM subdirectory.
