OSINDSK7 - PROMPTING FOR DISKETTE 7 ON A CD DURING OS/2 2.1 FOR WINDOWS WINDOWS 01/29/96 ======================================================================= Prompting for Diskette 7 on a CD during OS/2 2.1 for Windows Installation ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION Windows 3.1 was installed from CD. During the installation of OS/2 2.1 for Windows, OS/2 asks for the Windows diskettes, but is treating the images on the CD as 5.25-inch images, where there are 7 diskettes. There is no 7th image on the CD. RESOLUTION You need to either obtain a Diskette 7, or make the installation program "think" you have it. You can do one of the following: * Obtain a Windows 5.25-inch Diskette 7. * Install Windows 3.1 from diskettes and use the diskettes during OS/2 for Windows installation. * Create a "fake" Diskette 7: 1. Format a blank 5.25-inch diskette. 2. Do a DISKCOPY of the CD image of Diskette 6 to the blank 5.25-inch diskette. 3. At a DOS prompt, type the following and press Enter after each to label the 5.25-inch Diskette 6 as "DISK7": A: LABEL DISK7 Use this diskette when the Installation program prompts you for Diskette 7. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
